Ruangkit is seen by many as the ‘Godfather’ of Thai golf, paving the way for the global success of many of his Amata Friendship Cup team members.

Following a sterling amateur career, Khun Boonchu turned pro in 1985 and amassed five wins on the Asian Tour. He was bestowed the honour of hitting the inaugural tee shot of the All Thailand Tour in 1994 and the same honour when what is now the Asian Tour was launched in 1999.

In 2004 he won the Thailand Open on his way to a career best 2nd place on the Asian Tour Order of Merit. His success on the course has continued onto the European Senior (Staysure) Tour and PGA Champions Tour.
